Viscose (faux silk) is a type of rayon and a cellulosic fiber. Made from wood pulp, viscose is like a cotton or linen and really only partially man-made. Because Viscose is made from natural materials it offers excellent hygienic properties. Viscose is designed to emulate silk. It has a smooth, luxurious appearance that is soft and comfortable to touch. Strong and durable, viscose’s abrasion resistant surface generates low levels of static electricity and is resistant to heat and insects. Viscose is often regarded as a higher-maintenance fiber as it weakens when wet making spot treatment for stains not practical. But with fiber sealing treatments, proper maintenance and cleaning guidelines, viscose can have a long life-time and be a stunning rug!
